KASON BFC -4 Bauer Fiber Classifier

KASON BFC -4 Bauer Fiber Classifier

Bauer Fiber Classifier is a laboratory instrument for pulp and paper laboratories. It adopts the screening method to determine the weight-average fiber length of pulp fibers. It is used to measure the proportion of fibers with different lengths in pulp and analyze the distribution of various fiber lengths in the slurry.

Product Details

This instrument complies with the screening test method specified in GB/T 2678.1-1993, also conforms to the screening test method of TAPPI T233cm-95, and meets the Nordic SCAN M6 test method (10 g sample, water flow for 15 minutes, flow rate 10 L/min).

Working Principle

Pulp suspension is injected into the classifier. Each screening container is equipped with a screen and arranged in a stepped structure. When the pulp suspension flows from one container to another, fibers of different lengths are retained on corresponding screens. The length of retained fibers matches the mesh size of the screen plate.
Under a fixed water flow rate after a certain screening time, collect the fibers on each screen plate, dry them, and reach constant weight. The test result is reported as the mass percentage of retained fibers on each mesh relative to the initial sample mass.

Sample Preparation & Instrument Assembly

Before operation, prepare uniform samples with good fiber length distribution, soak the samples until fully saturated, and process them by disintegration and shearing to obtain qualified fiber specimens.
For instrument assembly, install the settler, screening unit and closed vibration device strictly in accordance with the manual, and complete calibration to ensure accurate screen spacing.

Compliance Standards

The Bauer Fiber Classifier complies with multiple screening standards, including GB/T 2678.1-1993, TAPPI T233cm-95 and Nordic SCAN M6. After collecting, drying and constant weight treatment of fibers on each screen, the mass percentage of retained fibers can be calculated to analyze the proportion and distribution of different fiber lengths in pulp.
